Making Memories Grants
Funeral Assistance Grants

We understand the importance of children building memories with their parents. This is particularly true for those who will lose a parent to a terminal illness. We also understand that serious illnesses usually come with increased expenses and decreased income for families.

Derek’s Place provides grants of up to $1,000 for families with a terminally ill parent and a child under 13. These grants assist in creating memorable experiences or covering funeral costs. Our simple application process and quick review aim to ease financial strains and support families in making meaningful memories.

Derek’s Place is dedicated to easing the journey through memory-making grants and assistance with funeral expenses by offering grants of up to $1,000 to any family with a child under 13 years old who has a terminally ill parent.

"Dear Rachel & Derek's Place, heartfelt gratitude flows for the extraordinary gift of a luxurious and unique hotel stay. Your thoughtful generosity has created a haven of comfort and respite for those of us resisting cancer, offering not just accommodation but a moment of reprieve from the challenges we face. This act of kindness is a beacon of hope, reminding us all of the power of compassion and community support. Rachel, your dedication as the organiser shines brightly, ensuring that this experience was not just a stay but a memorable and uplifting escape. Your efforts amplify the impact of Derek's Place Cancer Charity. Thank you for making a meaningful difference in the lives of us touched by cancer."
